Sophia Shaningwa, the Secretary General of the Swapo Party and a cousin of Ras Sheehama, says that the late artist was among the exceptional musicians who ignited the liberation struggle during Namibia's fight for independence. His musical lyrics and the rhythm of his songs, such as the popular "Cassinga", kept the morale of freedom fighters high during the dark days of the struggle. Thus, Shaningwa says the loss of Sheehama is not only felt by his family, the neighbourhood and community he live
