Here's the pattern I teach my students. ✨OU usually spells /ow/ in the middle of a syllable, as in sound, mouse, proud. ✨ OW usually spells /ow/ at the end of a syllable, as in cow, now, how. BUT there's one important twist. ✨If the syllable ends in n or l, we usually use OW, as in howl, scowl, brown and down. Note that I used the word "usually" throughout! #phonicsforkids #firstgrade #spellinghe
