Healthy soil = healthy plants! We recently flailed & disked in a buckwheat cover crop. Buckwheat provides a fast growing, dense cover and high quality organic matter. Although it isn’t a nitrogen fixing crop, it mines insoluble phosphorus from the soil, making it available for future crops. Buckwheat also makes a great bee attractant. Buckwheat is a great cover crop that can suppress weed and increase soil fertility. While it grows, it picks up and holds minerals in its leaves, stems and roots.
