No. 17/19-ranked Missouri football’s last chance to make a run at a College Football Playoff berth fell by the wayside Saturday in Columbia, where the Tigers lost 38-17 to undefeated and No. 3/3-ranked Texas A&M.

Missouri football suffers blowout loss to Texas A&M in must-win spot
Missouri football, playing without its top two quarterbacks because of injury and needing a miracle to keep its grandest ambitions alive, sputtered and stumbled on its home field Saturday, losing 38-17 to Texas A&M on Faurot Field in Columbia.
With three more weekends left in the regular season, 59 teams have become bowl-eligible, and another 19 can qualify with one more victory. With 82 spots, it’s unlikely a team with a losing record will slide into the postseason this year. Of course, that could change.
