ATMORE, Ala. — An Alabama man who dropped his appeals and said he deserved to die for the rape and murder of a woman in 2010 was put to death Thursday evening. James Osgood, 55, was pronounced dead at 6:35 p.m. CDT following a lethal injection at a south Alabama prison, authorities said.

Alabama has executed James Osgood for the rape and murder of Tracy Lynn Wilemon nearly 25 years ago. Osgood was executed April 24 after relinquishing his appeals on his case and accepting the death penalty for the Oct. 13, 2010, killing of Wilemon. Osgood was declared dead at 6:35 p.m.
