On the NBA side, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown made an appearance pregame during the Sun’s block party on Canal St. During the game, he sat courtside along with Celtics teammate Georges Niang and a pair of Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox players.

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark left Tuesday night’s game in the final minute holding back tears after grabbing at her leg — an apparent injury that would be her third this season.

"I think the market here itself is just going to be better for a women’s basketball program," said Sun guard Saniya Rivers.

What's clear is that Providence would face stiff competition from Boston, where the Connecticut Sun already have an established audience.

The governors of Rhode Island and Massachusetts are pitching the idea of bringing the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun to their states, touting Providence and Boston as rival possible destinations if the team ends up relocating.
