Yep, you read that correctly. Mercedes-AMG confirmed it is working to develop a new hybrid V-8 powertrain that should arrive as soon as 2026.

The company basically binned the car's stock high-output 2.0-liter biturbo-based hybrid powertrain—battery pack and all—and swapped in an older version of Mercedes-AMG's latest 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8. That means, VUK's custom-made V-8 W206 C 63 S is the only one of its kind in the entire world.

Turbocharged four-cylinders certainly make ample power, but Mercedes is committed to sticking by bigger engines.
