First, a little anatomy lesson: The Bartholin's glands are located on each side of the vaginal opening, the Mayo Clinic says. The glands secrete fluid to lubricate the vagina and vulva.

Bartholin’s glands, which help lubricate the vagina, are located where the vagina meets the vulva—or at “the the junction of the vulvovaginal entrance,” she notes.

Either finding is normal. The area between the labia minora is the vestibule, which contains the urethral meatus, Skene glands, vaginal introitus, and Bartholin glands.
