Footage filmed on 9 November from the Philippines shows the moment Typhoon Fung-wong swept through, causing huge waves to drench coastal towns. Elsewhere, bridges were whipped about in the high winds of 185km/h (115mph) and people swam through floodwater in the streets.
"The ship's structure suggests that it was capable of long-distance voyages, likely used for maritime trade or naval operations," officials said.
