At least 26 people were killed and 17 others wounded when gunmen opened fire on tourists in Indian-controlled Kashmir, the worst assault in years targeting civilians in a restive region that has seen an anti-India rebellion for more than three decades.

Jammu Kashmir 27-year-old Sudip Neupane from Nepal was among the victims of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. His devastated grandparents, both in their 80s, are mourning the tragic loss of their beloved grandson.

The Pahalgam attack comes a week after Pakistan Army chief General Asim Munir sparked a row when he said Kashmir is Islamabad’s ’jugular vein.’ The remark evoked a strong objection from New Delhi.
