British music producer and instrumentalist Dave Ball, best known for his work in the iconic synth-pop duo Soft Cell, has died at the age of 66.

Along with singer Mark Almond, Soft Cell was best known for the 1981 hit song “Tainted Love.”  Almond announced his musical partner’s death Thursday.
