Donald Trump has temporarily replaced the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office after Elon Musk’s son seemingly wiped a booger on it during their viral visit to the White House last week.
President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that the Resolute Desk has been temporarily removed from the Oval Office to be “refinished,” a touch-up that occurred just days after Elon Musk’s son seemingly picked his nose and wiped it on the historic piece of furniture.
“This desk, the ‘C&O,’ which is also very well-known and was used by President George H.W. Bush and others, has been temporarily installed in the White House while the Resolute Desk is being lightly refinished—a very important job,” Trump wrote.
President Trump says the famous Oval Office desk where Elon Musk’s son seemed to wipe his finger after picking his nose during his father’s impromptu press conference is now out for a light touch-up. In the meantime, the president is using a desk once used by the elder President Bush.

Donald Trump, who has in the past labelled himself as a germophobe, shared a picture of the Oval Office with the new desk on his social media platform.
Gone is the Resolute Desk which Musk’s son, Little X, hung out over, knuckle deep in his nose, while Trump sat there and watched Elon talk to the media about DOGE. It appeared that the youngster may have wiped something on the desk, too, possibly marking its demise.
For 145 years, the Resolute Desk has been closely associated with US presidents, having first been placed in the Oval Office during John F Kennedy’s tenure. But Donald Trump has decided to remove it and replace it with the C&O Desk.
