Keller ISD is eyeing cuts to staff and programming next year in an effort to fill a projected $27 million budget deficit unless the state provides more funding.

During the 2022-23 school year, Fort Worth ISD had 127 classrooms in 44 schools exceed the state’s maximum class size.

Houston ISD is planning to seek more than 1,000 class size waivers from the Texas Education Agency for the 2023-24 academic year, pending board approval on Thursday.

The proposal would have increased the district's maintenance and operations tax rate by 3 cents to "maintain class sizes and student programs," according to the district.
