People gathered to watch an underwater dragon dance performance at an aquarium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday (1/16). Four divers performed surrounded by fish as a part of early annual Lunar New Year celebrations to welcome in the Year of the Snake on January 29th.

The Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year to encompass all communities, takes over la Samaritaine from January 22 to February 4, 2025. To celebrate the Year of the Snake, the department store is offering a series of cultural events, artistic demonstrations and an Asian beauty selection.

Uwajimaya, an Asian grocery store chain with a location in Beaverton, will host a traditional Lion Dance performance for Lunar New Year. The festive celebration promises luck and fortune for the new year and invites attendees to bring friends and family.

When Lunar New Year kicks off on Jan. 29, events will be held throughout San Diego to mark the year of the snake in the Chinese and Vietnamese zodiac calendars.
