Will a weather system rolling off the coast of Africa become the season’s first hurricane next week? Here’s what the so-called “spaghetti models” are showing.

For the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season, NOAA is forecasting 13 to 18 total named storms with winds of 39 mph or greater -- with five to nine of those storms predicted to become hurricanes with winds of 74 mph or greater.

A tropical wave on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean had weather watchers talking on Friday. Some are saying it could end up being the Atlantic’s first hurricane of 2025. The National Hurricane Center was watching three spots in the Atlantic on Friday night.
