The National Women’s Soccer League says the game between Angel City and Utah should not have continued after defender Savy King collapsed on the field.

The NWSL released a statement saying King "left the field in stable condition" and was "responsive" upon arriving at California Hospital Medical Center. After being transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, she was diagnosed with a heart abnormality and underwent surgery to correct the issue. Her prognosis was described as "excellent."

The NWSL said last Friday's game in which Angel City FC defender Savy King collapsed on the field should have ended following the incident.
