The New York Act defines “beneficial owner” as having the same meaning as defined in the CTA (31 U.S.C. 5336(a)(3), as amended) and any regulations promulgated thereunder.

New York LLCs must begin to plan to comply with the NYTA over the course of 2026. The future of the federal CTA may be uncertain, but state-versions appear more likely.
