Prime Minister Mark Carney is calling the long-awaited opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge “positive news” after reports on Monday said the bridge would open later this week.

The $4.7 billion Gordie Howe International Bridge is in its final stages, with construction and systems testing expected to wrap up within days. The bridge still requires approvals from U.S., Michigan and Canadian agencies before it can open to traffic,
