Roads are closed, trains are cancelled and weather warnings remain in force after Storm Goretti battered the UK. Heavy snow has fallen across large parts of the country, including some areas of Greater Manchester.
Treacherous road conditions have caused two major roads in the East Midlands to be closed this morning. The A46 is currently closed southbound from the A606 junction with Melton Road due to what National Highways is calling "several collisions in the area".

'Heavy snow' closes East Midlands Airport runway as Storm Goretti hits UK
East Midlands Airport has closed its runway temporarily due to heavy snow from Storm Goretti. The airport said in a post on social media in the early hours of Friday, January 9, that its teams are working hard to clear the runway from snow as quickly as possible.
