Tomatoes sold in 14 states have been recalled over concerns of possible contamination with the bacteria salmonella. Two different companies have issued recalls after distributing the potentially contaminated tomatoes, which they obtained from the same supplier, Hanshaw & Capling Farms, or H&C Farms, in Immokalee, Florida.

Two brands of tomatoes have been recalled in 14 states due to possible salmonella contamination, the Food and Drug Administration said this week. Ray & Mascari Inc. recalled four-count Vine Ripe tomatoes that were sold by Gordon Food Service Stores in 11 states, including New York, Illinois, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The recalled four-packs of tomatoes were sold in plastic clamshell containers with a label reading VINE RIPE TOMATOES and Packed by Ray & Mascari, Inc., Indianapolis, IN 46204. The label has a UPC number of 7 96553 20062 1. No illnesses have been reported to date, according to the recall announcement.
