The series features My Melody, who since her debut in 1975 has continued to be loved by a wide range of fans, and Kuromi, who debuted in 2005 as My Melody’s self-proclaimed rival.

Netflix and Sanrio’s latest anime project couldn’t have come at a better time, with Kuromi and My Melody both celebrating their individual anniversaries in 2025 – 20 and 50 years, respectively.

The Nendoroids will cost $54.99 each, with My Melody shipping in February 2023 and Kuromi in March 2023. Pre-orders opened on April 4, 2022, and will close on May 18, 2022, with limited stock.

Kuromi is a more recent addition to the Sanrio pantheon of cute, having launched in 2004. My Melody’s self-proclaimed rival, Kuromi is often pitched as a lovable but adorable troublemaker.

My Melody & Kuromi arrives on the streamer in July. The show was inspired by My Melody, created in 1975, and her "self-proclaimed rival" Kuromi, who entered the Sanrio universe in 2005.
