Alums, former hosts and seemingly everyone who’s ever entered “SNL’s” orbit was on hand to celebrate the show’s 50th Anniversary. “SNL50: The Anniversary Special” was part reflection, part reunion and a culmination of festivities that began on Friday with a concert.

“SNL50: The Anniversary Special” was a nostalgia-inducing review of half a century of laughs. The star-studded live broadcast featured some of the show’s most beloved recurring characters and skits, from Debbie Downer to Domingo. Just like any episode of “SNL,” the three-hour show had some standout moments and some forgettable ones.

Oscar-winner Jack Nicholson, sporting his signature sunglasses, also made a surprise appearance during the special. His appearance, too, marked his “SNL” debut when he introduced Adam Sandler, who sang an original song about the 50-year history of “SNL.”
