Uber claimed it would have “no choice” but to cease operations in Colorado should the state pass a new bill to bolster passenger safety. Under the bill, HB25-1291, rideshare companies operating in Colorado would be required to perform regular background checks on drivers,

If the bill were to pass, an Uber spokesperson said, it would put “the future of Uber in Colorado in jeopardy.”

The bill requires drivers to make audio and video recordings of trips and prohibits drivers from offering passengers drinks and snacks.
