The Braves showed positive offensive signs in their first two games against the Rockies — with 16 runs on 22 hits — but Sunday’s series finale demonstrated the group is still searching for consistency.

The latest evidence: The Rockies’ 12-4 loss to the Braves on Friday night at Truist Field, in which the Braves scored 11 runs in their last three at-bats. Consider: Colorado got an excellent start from German Marquez and ripped Atlanta pitching for 14 hits, on the road no less.

The Atlanta Braves will not have left-hander Chris Sale make his next scheduled start as planned, instead moving him back in the rotation.

The 19 strikeouts by Braves pitchers also set an Atlanta record for a nine-inning game. Spencer Strider recorded 13 strikeouts in six innings, followed by relievers Rafael Montero and Dylan Lee, who combined for six more whiffs.

The Atlanta Braves will have to wait a bit to see if they can handle the Rockies as expected on Saturday as we are in a rain delay.
