The weather service said most areas of north Alabama will only receive less than an inch of snow Wednesday morning. However, certain areas have already reported receiving over 1 inch of snow on Wednesday morning.

As parts of north and north-central Alabama started Wednesday with some snow on the ground, several Alabama school districts announced delays and closings. Temperatures Wednesday night will plunge into the low teens overnight in north Alabama. Central Alabama will have lows between 20 degrees and 25 degrees.

This advisory will take effect at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, and will last until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19. Residents can expect mixed precipitation, up to half an inch of snow, and ice accumulations around a light glaze.
